Allendale and The Bunkhouse
The Allendale Bunkhouse is located on the market place of Allendale Town amid the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a 10 minute drive from Hexham, 40 minutes from Newcastle or Carlisle. The market place has 3 lovely country pubs (one specialising in music, another in quiet food and the third is a newly refurbished and trendy bar with large pool table and darts as well as great pub meals).
The Bunkhouse has been completely refurbished and rennovated in 2014 (opening date 24th October 2014) with over£100,000 spent on the project. The garden is due to be landscaped in early 2015 with outdoor tables, a bon fire pit, a large outdoor BBQ, wonderful gardens with views across the valley and a play area.
Allendale tea rooms, the Forge art gallery & cafe, a quirky gift shop and also a pharmacy and Allendale medical pratice and the library are all a stone throw away.
Just down the “peth” you will find the River East Allen with a beautiful river walk, all the way to the lovely village of Catton with another fabulous and foody country pub & beer garden. On the market place there is also bike hire (electric, mountain and hybrid bikes) – the C2C cycle trail runs close by, and throughout the year the are fabulous art, heritage and music events happening across the Allen Valleys. Some of the anual main events include:
Allendale Art Trail
Allendale Horticultural Show
The Allen Valleys Folk Festival
The Allendale Tar Barrel Festival

The Allendale Bunkhouse used to be part of what was formerly known as “The Dale Hotel”, a huge building on the market place in Allendale, which has been unused and falling into disrepair until Tony and Lind Beck (BECKs Training Ltd), based at Deneholme in Allendale, purchased it in May 2014. The building has then been split into 3 seperate parts: The Allendale Bunkhouse, The Dale Hotel and The Holiday Cottage.
