Growing desire to take historic gardens back to Edwardian roots

FROM a well-loved family garden to being rescued by a £1.8m project, the gardens at Allendale’s Deneholme are still greatly admired. Spreading over several acres from behind the Edwardian manor house and down across the Philiburn, even today it’s a hidden, tranquil setting. But while much of the garden’s Edwardian features have been lost over time, the sense of its former splendour still exists among the trees and tired walkways.
That splendour was created under the watchful eye of preacher and business man Robert Pickering, who turned Deneholme’s sprawling land into the Edwardian gardens.  ——-  The full article can be found here!
